Let’s go down memory lane. I remember freshman year of high school the year was 1998 and bell bottoms made a comeback. This was also the year I officially was plus size and I couldn’t find any clothes. Growing up my Aunts and grandmother were true plus size divas. My grandmother could dress anyone under the table. She shopped at Catos and Ashley Stewart. But to me they were not for me. They didn’t cater to 15 year old me. I just was not able to find bell bottom jeans like the other girls. One day my sister took me to Rainbow and there it was. An entire section of up to date fashion with my name all over it. I got bell bottoms in very color but still no jeans. Now let’s fast forward to 2000 when I discovered the world of Old Navy and Lane Bryant. Now I can rock women’s jeans that fit. Side note I was wearing men’s wide legged jeans. By this time bell bottoms were not as cool.
Lets fast forward again to 2020 and I have a second chance to join the bell bottoms club. Now I’m looking for a size 22-26 in jeans depending on the type. That is not always an easy task. Thanks to all these hips and butt I’m working with.I went to an amazing event at Eloquii in Lenox Mall. They really know how to make a girl feel special. Boom I see some jean bell bottoms. I think to myself it’s time. It’s time for me to rock the hell out of these bell bottoms. I grab two pair and head to the fitting rooms. Not before grabbing a mimosa and cheese while grooving to the DJ. Did I fail to mention I got a quick lip look by the complimentary MUA that was on standby. This event was everything FYI. I finally get in the fitting room and it happened. After 20 years I have on some cute jean bell bottoms that actually fit and….. I look ridiculous! I don’t think they are the most flattering style of jeans for me.So I put them back. At the end of the day now I know. I’ll stick with my boot cut or skinny’s. I also got to be apart of a great event at Eloquii. I avoid the mall at all cost, and now I have a reason to go. They had some really cute items and I can’t wait to go back.
